When changing gears, press the clutch pedal and, after engaging the appropriate gear, slowly release it. 5th gear is engaged by applying additional lateral force to the right to overcome the spring resistance.

Note: To prevent premature wear or damage to the clutch, do not drive with your foot on the clutch pedal. Also, do not use the clutch to keep the car from moving backwards on an incline (when stopping at an intersection, etc.).

R - Reverse

Reverse gear is engaged when the vehicle is stationary by moving the lever to the right and overcoming the resistance of the spring. If the gear cannot be engaged or the gear is difficult to engage, return the lever to neutral, press the clutch pedal and engage the gear again.

Shifting to a lower gear

• When driving slowly downhill in heavy traffic or on a steep hill and you need to shift into a lower gear, shift into a lower gear before the engine speed drops significantly.
• The lower gear reduces the chance of engine stalling and provides the ability to accelerate quickly when needed.
• When driving down a steep hill, downshifting will help you maintain a safe speed and extend the life of your brakes.
