Cooling system — routine maintenance (Opel Ascona C)

1. Check the coolant level in the expansion tank at specified intervals. If it drops below the "KALT" mark on the tank wall, remove the tank cap (see photos) and add coolant (a mixture of antifreeze and water in the right proportion). When the engine is hot, the plug should be removed through a rag, being careful not to burn yourself.





2. Frequent need to top up the fluid indicates a leak in the system or a leaking cylinder head gasket (find and fix the problem).

3. Replace the coolant at specified intervals. Check the concentration of antifreeze before each winter.

4. Periodically check the condition and reliability of the system hoses. Replace damaged hoses.
