Cars with 4-cylinder engines
Removing
1. Remove the auxiliary drive belt (see related section).
2. Place a container under the power steering pump, then unscrew the union nut and separate the pressure pipe. Loosen the clamp, disconnect the supply hose and allow excess fluid to drain into a container.
3. Support the pump and remove the three mounting bolts. Remove the pump from the engine compartment.
Installation
4. Install the power steering pump in the reverse order of removal. Install a new O-ring on the pump discharge pipe and tighten all couplings, nuts and bolts with a tightening torque specified specifications.
5. Install the auxiliary drive belt (see related section).
6. Bring the fluid level in the tank to the maximum mark using fresh fluid. Run the engine briefly, then shut it off and top up the fluid level again. Repeat this procedure until the level stabilizes. Start the engine at idle and slowly turn the steering mechanism several times from one extreme position to another to pump it.
7. Stop engine and top up fluid level (see related section).

Removing
8. On models with air conditioning, have your Opel dealer discharge the refrigerant-carrying tube system.
9. Remove auxiliary drive belt (see related section).
10. Block the power steering pump pulley with a belt wrench, then loosen and remove the pulley mounting bolts. Separate the pulley from the pump shaft.
11. Place a container under the power steering pump, then unscrew the union nut and separate the pressure tube. Loosen the clamp, separate the supply hose and allow excess fluid to drain into a container.
12. Jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands. Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the bottom shield of the engine compartment.
13. Remove the screw and separate the ground strap from the power steering pump bracket.
14. Turn off bolts and remove a basic core of the valve recirculation of the fulfilled gases. Remove the mounting screws and separate the bracket from the power steering pump.
15. Unfasten the air conditioning compressor from the power steering pump bracket (see related section).
16. Turn off three bolts and remove an arm of the pump of the hydraulic booster from the engine together with the pump.
17. Unfasten the pump from the bracket.
Installation
18. Install the pump in the reverse order of removal. Install a new O-ring on the pump discharge pipe and tighten all couplings, nuts and bolts with the tightening torque specified specifications.
19. Install auxiliary drive belt (see related section).
20. Have your Opel dealer charge the air conditioning system.
21. Bring the liquid level in the tank to the maximum mark. Run the engine briefly, then turn it off and top up the fluid level again. Repeat this procedure until the level stabilizes. Start the engine at idle and slowly turn the steering mechanism several times from one extreme position to another to pump it.
