Contents: Camshaft drive belt ⬇ Camshafts ⬇ Valve timing* ⬇
The "20XE" engine uses a 16-valve valve mechanism with two camshafts (inlet and outlet) overhead. The camshafts are driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft pulley.

Camshaft drive belt

Number of teeth: 141.

Width, mm: 24.

Belt tension when adjusted using the KM 510-A device:

new belt:
  • on a cold engine: 4.5;
  • on a warm engine: 7.5.

of the belt that has worked:
  • on a cold engine: 2.5;
  • on a warm engine: 7.0.

Camshafts

The camshafts are made of cast iron with surface hardening and nitriding. The shafts are not marked.

Radial runout of the middle journal relative to the outer journals, measured at the centers, mm: 0.04.

Axial clearance of the camshaft, mm: 0.04-0.144.

Cam lift, mm: 9.5.

Neck diameter, mm: 27.939-27.960.

Diameter of bearing holes in cylinder head, mm: 28.000-28.021.
