Main technical characteristics (Opel Kadett E)

The four-stroke, four-cylinder, in-line gasoline engine is mounted transversely to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. In the engines of the models "13N", "13S", "14NV", "16S", "16SV", "18E", "18SE", "20NE", "20SEH", "C16NZ", "C20NE" the valve mechanism with an overhead camshaft (OHC) and an 8-valve cylinder head are used. The engine of the "20XE" model uses a valve mechanism with two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and a 16-valve cylinder head. Since the 1992 model year, cars with "C16NZ" and "C20NE" engines have been equipped with an exhaust gas neutralizer.
