Removing
Remove the front wheel.
Mark the position relative to the wheel hub.
Removing the axle shaft from the wheel hub.
Remove the dust cap.
Note. The dust cap cannot be removed without damage.
Remove lock pin 2 from axle nut 3.
Install the KM-6610 tool on the wheel hub with two wheel screws 4.
Remove axle shaft nut 3, hold KM-6610 5 together with extension KM-956-16.
Remove tool KM-6610.
Remove the brake disc.
Remove the tie rod head.
Install tool CH-47658 2 in the correct position.
Note. Center with socket wrench.
Use a suitable bushing 4. The bushing 4 must fit snugly against the tie rod arm 3. Tighten tool CH-47658 2 at the hexagon 1.
Unscrew nut 5.
Remove CH-47658 2, loosen with hex key 1.
Remove the wheel sensor holder 1 with the ABS wheel sensor from the steering knuckle.
Remove the screw.
Remove the tie rod head 2.
Remove KM-507-C 3 tool from steering knuckle.
Remove the steering knuckle from the steering joint.
Unscrew the nut with screw 4.
Remove the shock absorber support tube from the steering knuckle.
Note. When replacing the steering knuckle, reinstall the brake disc cover plate and use a new wheel bearing.
Unscrew 2 nuts with screw 5.
Installation
Install steering knuckle 1.
Insert the steering knuckle into the pivot point of the independent suspension arm 2.
Drive axle shaft 3 into the wheel hub.
Install the suspension strut support tube on the steering knuckle, tighten the 2 new nut screws 4 80 Nm + 60°+15°.
Tighten screw 7 of the guide joint 60 Nm.
Use a new nut.
Install the tie rod head 6 on the steering knuckle.
Install tool CH-47658 in the correct position.
Note. Center with socket wrench. Use the correct bushing. The bushing must fit snugly against the tie rod arm. Tighten tool CH-47658 using the hex key.
Tighten the nut 35 Nm.
Remove tool CH-47658, loosen it with a hex key.
Install the wheel sensor holder 5 with the ABS wheel sensor on the steering knuckle 8 Nm.
Install the brake disc.
Attach the axle shaft to the wheel hub.
Install KM-6610 1 with 2 wheel screws on the wheel hub.
Tighten the new castle nut 1 and washer 2 on the axle shaft 120 Nm.
Hold the KM-6610 4 together with the KM-956-1 extension 6.
Loosen castle nut 1 until castle nut 1 can be turned by hand.
Tighten castle nut 1 20 Nm + 90°.
Install a new lock pin.
Note. If necessary, turn castle nut 1 back until the cotter pin hole is aligned with the next slot in the castle nut.
Remove tool KM-66104.
Install a new dust cap 5 on the wheel hub.
Install the front wheel - tightening torque 110 Nm.
