Disassembly and assembly of the shock absorber strut (Opel Corsa C)

Note: Replace springs and shock absorbers in pairs only.


Removal



Remove shock absorber strut 1.

Place the KM-6066 2 fixture on a workbench or clamp it in a vice.

Install shock absorber strut 3 on KM-6066.

Install tool MKM-6068-10 to MKM-6068.

Install the MKM-6068 1 tool and tension the spring.

Mark the placement and installed position of the units until the load on the thrust bearing is removed.

Remove the thrust bearing (arrow) from the shock absorber piston rod.

Unscrew the nut - hold it with a suitable tool.

Remove the upper damping ring and the upper thrust bearing with the spring seat.

Remove the upper damping ring and the upper thrust bearing with the spring seat.


Remove the shock absorber thrust piece from the shock absorber piston rod.

Remove the coil spring using tool MKM-6068 1 from the shock absorber support tube.

Installation



Install the spring on the shock absorber support tube 3.

Insert the spring with the MKM-6068 1 tool into the shock absorber support tube.

Place the thrust shock absorber onto the piston rod.

Install the thrust bearing with the spring seat on top and the upper damper ring - before doing this, determine the marked installation position and location.



Install the thrust bearing onto the shock absorber piston rod using a suitable tool

Tighten the new nut (arrow) to 50 Nm.

Release the MKM-6068 1 spring compressor and remove it from the spring.

Note: Make sure the spring is seated correctly.


Remove the shock absorber strut from the KM-6066 2 tool.

Install the shock absorber strut.

Check the wheel alignment and adjust if necessary.
