Removal


Remove the upper nut 2 from the shock absorber strut.

Remove protective cap 1 from the shock absorber.

Remove the front wheel.

Mark the position relative to the wheel hub.

Remove the pendulum 3 from the shock absorber support tube.

Hold the two flat surfaces of the ball joint pin with an open-end wrench.

Release the ABS wheel sensor 4 wiring harness from the clamps in the guide on the shock absorber support tube.

Remove the shock absorber strut.

Remove 2 screws 5 of the shock absorber support pipe on the steering knuckle.

Remove 2 screws 5 of the shock absorber support pipe on the steering knuckle.


Remove the shock absorber strut from the wheel well.

Installation



Install the strut onto the shock absorber dome.

Loosely screw in nut 1.



Note: Use a new nut


Note: Use a new nut


Install the shock absorber support tube onto the steering knuckle.

Tighten 2 new screws 3 and new nut 80 Nm + 60°+ 15°.

Connect the ABS wheel sensor 2 wiring harness to the retainer clips on the shock absorber support tube.

Mount pendulum 1 on the shock absorber support tube 65 Nm.

Use a new nut.

Hold the two flat surfaces of the ball joint pin with an open-end wrench.

Hold the two flat surfaces of the ball joint pin with an open-end wrench.


Set the front wheel to 110 Nm.

Lower the car to the ground.

Tighten the upper nut 2 55 N·m.

Place the protective cap 1 on the shock absorber.

Place the protective cap 1 on the shock absorber.


Check the wheel alignment and adjust if necessary.
