Corsa C in relation to its predecessors has a higher level of comfort and a high standard of passive safety. Thanks to the use of a zinc coating on the body, the car has a 12-year warranty against rust through. Maintenance intervals have been significantly extended. The ergonomics of the driver's seat is maximized with a wide range of steering column adjustments in two planes and the ability to adjust the driver's seat (including height), built-in on-board computer and convenient location of control buttons for power windows, mirrors and audio system.
In 2004, the model was restyled. The design of the front end was changed - the shape of the headlights, the hood and the decorative radiator grille, as well as the front fenders and the front bumper lining, changed. Changes were made to the interior design as well.
Note: In 2006, another restyling of this model range was made. These changes are not covered in this Guide.
Meriva has been in production since May 2003 and is a minivan based on the Corsa C. It differs from the base model in overall dimensions, an increased wheelbase and a somewhat reinforced suspension. The design of the rear seats, thanks to the possibility of folding them flush with the floor of the cabin, makes it easy to transform the luggage compartment of the car.
The list of used engines is given in Specifications at the beginning of Chapter 2. Gasoline models are most widely represented on the Russian market, but a diesel engine can be installed on request.
All petrol models are equipped with an electronic fuel injection system. All diesel engines are equipped with a turbocharger and an electronically controlled direct injection system. Some models are equipped with a common fuel distribution line for all cylinders («Common Rail»). Intercooler (intercooler), which increases efficiency. turbocharger is standard on all diesel models.
To ensure the transmission of torque from the engine to the front drive wheels, a 5-speed manual gearbox is provided (RKPP) or 4-speed automatic transmission (AT), as well as a 5-speed Easytronic robotic gearbox.
The brake system is equipped with a vacuum booster. Disc brakes are installed on the front wheels, both disc and drum mechanisms can be installed on the rear wheels (depending on the model). All models are equipped with ABS.
The fully independent front suspension consists of MacPherson struts and transverse lower wishbones. Rear suspension - with torsion beam and two trailing arms. The front suspension beam has a frame structure and provides fastening of the power unit by means of rubber-metal damping mounts. Steering - rack and pinion, with electric booster.
The described models, as standard, are equipped with a front driver's airbag. Additionally, front passenger, side and head airbags can be installed. An engine immobilization system is used to protect against theft. The standard infotainment system is equipped with a security code. To compensate for lateral accelerations and ensure accurate cornering, fast and precise steering response, reduce braking distances and maintain directional stability, in cases of emergency braking and maneuvering, an anti-skid can be installed on the car (ESP) /anti slip (TS) system.
Optional speed control system available (tempostat), xenon headlights and a system for adjusting the direction of the light beam, depending on the driving mode. The rear combination lights are integrated into the C-pillars. Since 2003, the Corsa C has been equipped with headlights with integrated turn indicators.
