Note: When removing the rear suspension beam, you must have assistants to hold it and lower it.
You will need: keys "18" (two), "21", socket heads TORX E10, E30, screwdriver with a flat blade.
1. Remove the rear wheels.
Caution! Loosen and tighten the wheel nuts only when the vehicle is on the ground.
2. Disconnect the parking brake cables from the brake calipers (see Replacing the rear parking brake cables).
3. Remove the parking brake cables from the two holders on both rear suspension beam arms and move them to the side.
4. Remove the bolts…
5. …and remove the wheel speed sensors from the rear suspension beam knuckles on both sides.
6. Remove the wheel speed sensor wire harness holders from the brackets on the rear suspension beam.
7. Unscrew the bolts securing the brake hoses to the rear wheel brake calipers and disconnect the hoses from the calipers.
Note: Take measures to prevent brake fluid from leaking out of the hoses by plugging them, for example, with wooden plugs.
8. Remove the bolts securing the two brake hose holders…
9. …and move the hoses away from the beam.
10. Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolts…
11. …and remove them from the shock absorber eyes.
12. Similarly, unscrew the bolts securing the reaction rods.
Note: For ease of use, tie the reaction rods to the body crossbar.
13. Remove the rear suspension springs with their upper and lower linings (see Replacing the rear suspension spring).
14. Unscrew four bolts on both sides securing the rear suspension beam brackets to the body…
15. …and remove the beam assembly with the brake mechanisms and rear wheel hubs.
16. While holding the bolt from turning, use the second wrench to loosen the nut, remove the bolt…
17. …and remove the bracket. Remove the second bracket in the same way.
The right and left rear suspension beam mounting brackets are the same.
The silent blocks of the rear suspension beam levers are installed in the lever lugs with a very large tension. To press them out or in, a powerful press and special mandrels are required. If you press the silent block out of the lug, you can also use a hammer, after sawing the silent block along the axis (in this case, the fit of the silent block in the eye is significantly weakened), then it is almost impossible to press the silent block with a hammer without damaging it. In this regard, if you need to replace the silent blocks, we recommend contacting a service center that has the appropriate equipment.
18. Remove the calipers and brake discs (see Rear wheel brakes) and rear wheel hubs (see Replacing the rear wheel hub).
19. Install the rear suspension beam and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
20. After installing the beam, bleed the brake system (see Bleeding the hydraulic brake system) and adjust the parking brake if necessary (see Adjusting the parking brake drive).
