Adjusting the parking brake drive (Opel Astra J)

To check the correct adjustment of the parking brake actuator, lift the actuator lever up to the stop until you hear approximately 3 or 4 clicks of the ratchet device. If the number of clicks does not fall within the specified range or if the vehicle is not held by the parking brake (see Checking the parking brake), repair the drive.



Manual adjustment of the drive is not provided, since an automatic drive adjustment unit is installed on the parking brake drive lever, which maintains optimal tension of the drive cables as they are pulled out and, consequently, optimal clearances in the brake mechanisms of the rear wheels.
