Warning! Before jacking up the rear of the vehicle, engage first gear and chock the front wheels. Once the rear is raised, place secure supports next to the jack.
Shock absorbers (left and right) replace in pairs.
Do not remove both shock absorbers at the same time with the rear of the vehicle raised, as lowering the rear suspension beam below the permissible limit may cause damage to the brake lines and hoses.
1. Raise the vehicle and remove the wheel on the side of the shock absorber being replaced.
2. Place a telescopic support or jack under the rear suspension beam to prevent the beam from shifting downwards when disconnecting the shock absorber.
3. Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt…
4. …and remove it from the shock absorber eye.
5. Remove the two upper shock absorber mounting bolts…
6. …and remove the shock absorber.
7. While holding the rod from turning, unscrew the nut securing the upper shock absorber support bracket…
8. …and remove the support from the rod.
Note: Check the integrity of the support, if damaged, replace the support with a new one.
9. Remove the protective cover with compression buffer from the rod.
10. Install the shock absorber vertically and lower and raise the shock absorber rod several times until it stops. Make sure that the rod moves without any dips, jams or knocks. Otherwise, replace the shock absorber. In addition, replace the shock absorber if fluid leaks are detected (slight fogging in the upper part of the case is allowed) and if the threads at the top of the rod are damaged.
11. Install the shock absorber in the reverse order of removal. The shock absorber mounting bolts should be finally tightened with the vehicle standing on the ground.
