Removal and installation the Watt mechanism (Opel Astra J)

You will need: wrenches "15" (two), "18" (two), "21", drill.

1. Place the vehicle on an overpass or inspection ditch.



2. Turn inside out…



3. …and remove the bolt securing the reaction rod to the trailing arm.



4. While holding the bolt from turning, unscrew the nut securing the reaction rod to the rocker arm…





5. …and remove the barbell.



6. Remove the second reaction rod in the same way.



7. Remove the two bolts securing the Watt mechanism crossmember…



8. …and take it off.





9. Drill out the rivets securing the heat shield and remove the heat shield.

10. While holding the bolt from turning, unscrew the rocker arm mounting nut and remove the rocker arm.

11. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
