Corsa B and Tigra models



Based on the design of the suspension, you should remove only one shock absorber first, and then the other.


Removal



1. Remove the cover in the interior trim and loosen the nut of the shock absorber dome protective casing.

2. Loosen the upper shock absorber mounting nut, holding its rod with a wrench to prevent it from turning.

3. Remove the spring cup and rubber shock absorber.

4. Jack up the rear of the car and place it on supports.

The upper rubber stop can be replaced without removing the entire shock absorber. To do this, release the support and slightly jack up the car.


5. Loosen the lower shock absorber mounting nut.

6. Remove the shock absorber.



Installation



1. Check the shock absorber (see section Disassembly, inspection and assembly of the shock absorber strut).

2. Place the protective cover and bushing onto the new shock absorber.

3. Insert the shock absorber into the dome from below.

4. Install the shock absorber from below into the holder on the rear axle console. Use a plastic hammer if necessary.

5. Align the holes in the shock absorber eye and in the holder. Using a plastic hammer, carefully tap the shock absorber mounting bolt until it stops. Tighten the bolt with force 70 Nm.

6. Slowly lower the vehicle while inserting the shock absorber into the dome.

7. From the luggage compartment, install the rubber buffer and cup onto the shock absorber and tighten the nut with force 20 Nm, holding the shock absorber rod with a wrench to prevent it from turning.



8. Install the shock absorber dome cover.

9. Insert the cover into the interior trim.

Combo model



1. Jack up the rear of the car and place it on supports.

2. Use a jack to relieve the rear shock absorber.

3. Unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting bolt and remove the shock absorber from the holder.

4. Unscrew the upper shock absorber mounting bolt and remove the shock absorber.

5. Install the shock absorber and tighten both mounting bolts with force 70 Nm.

6. Remove the jack and lower the vehicle.
