2. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.
3. Remove the crankcase protection (see Removal and installation of mudguards and engine crankcase protection).
4. Remove the accessory drive belt (see Accessory drive belt replacement).
5. Check the condition of the drive belt.
Note. Replace the belt if, upon inspection, you find:
- signs of wear on the toothed surface, cracks, undercuts, folds or delamination of fabric from rubber;
- cracks, folds, depressions or bulges on the outer surface of the belt;
- loosening or delamination on the end surfaces of the belt;
- traces of oil on the surface of the belt.
Attention! A belt with traces of engine oil on any of its surfaces must be replaced, as oil quickly destroys rubber. Cause of oil on the belt (usually due to leakage of the engine shaft seals) must be eliminated immediately.
6. Press the latch..
7.... and disconnect the block of the wiring harness from the block of the electromagnetic clutch for turning on the compressor.
8. Turn out a bolt of fastening of a flange of pipelines of low and high pressure to the compressor, remove a bolt from a hole and disconnect pipelines from the compressor.
Attention! Immediately after disconnecting, plug the openings of the compressor and air conditioning piping to prevent moisture and dirt from entering the air conditioning system.
9. Turn out bolts of fastening of the compressor to an arm on the block of cylinders.
10. Remove the bolts from the mounting holes and remove the A/C compressor by lowering it down.
11. Install the compressor and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
Attention!
- Technological plugs of the flanges of a new compressor should only be opened immediately before connecting the pipelines.
- When installing new pipe flange O-rings, be sure to lubricate them with A/C compressor oil.
12. Make sure that when installing the drive belt, the wedge tracks coincide with the pulley grooves, and the belt tension is correct.
13. Charge the A/C system with refrigerant at a specialized automotive air conditioner service center.
Note. When buying a new compressor, check with the seller the amount and type of oil poured into the new compressor. This information may be useful to mechanics who later charge the system with refrigerant.
