Replacement of auxiliary drive belt (Opel Astra J)

The accessory drive belt is removed on all engines using approximately the same techniques.

You will need a 19 mm wrench or socket head.

1. Remove the right front wheel.

2. Remove the right engine splash guard (see Removal and installation mudguards and engine crankcase protection).



3. Turn the tensioner roller counterclockwise with the key until the belt tension is released…

Note: This is how the twelve-sided key for turning the tension roller is located on the tensioner body.

4. …remove the accessory drive belt from the tension roller…





5. …and remove the belt completely.

6. Install the new accessory drive belt in the reverse order of removal.

7. Rotate the crankshaft three full revolutions to ensure that the accessory drive belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys.
