Replacing the left support of the powertrain suspension (Opel Astra J)

The power unit is mounted on two supports with rubber cushions on the right and left, as well as on two supports (also with rubber cushions) front and rear, mounted on the front suspension subframe.

Note: To remove any powertrain suspension support, the vehicle must be placed on a jack stand or lifted.


You will need a 15 mm socket head.

Note: The left powertrain mount is attached with three bolts to the body side member and three bolts to the bracket on the gearbox.


1. Remove the battery (see Removal and installation the battery).

2. Remove the battery mounting shelf (see Removal and installation the battery mounting shelf).

3. Remove the left front wheel arch liner (see Removal and installation mudguards).

4. Place a jack or support under the engine or gearbox crankcase.

5. Remove the three bolts securing the support to the bracket on the gearbox…

10. Inspect the support cushion. If there is swelling, cracking of the rubber mass, its separation from the metal collar, or cracks appearing in the collar, replace the support assembly.

11. Inspect the support bracket. If there are cracks or ovality of the holes for the fastening parts, replace the bracket.

12. Install the left powertrain suspension support in the reverse order of removal.
