Replacing the front support of the powertrain suspension (Opel Astra J)

You will need an 18 mm wrench.

Note: The front powertrain mount is attached with one bolt to the front suspension subframe bracket and two bolts to the transmission housing.


2. Place a jack or support under the engine or gearbox crankcase.

3. Remove the two bolts securing the support to the gearbox housing.

4. While holding the bolt head from turning, loosen the nut of the bolt securing the support to the front suspension subframe bracket and remove the bolt from the holes in the support and bracket.

5. Remove the support.

6. Inspect the support cushion. If there is swelling, cracking of the rubber mass, its separation from the metal collar, or if cracks appear in the collar, replace the support assembly.

7. Install the front powertrain mount and all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
