Adjusting the tension of the auxiliary drive belt of the generator (Opel Kadett E)

            0

Since March 1987, on vehicles with a 16SV engine and power steering, the generator is driven by a multi-groove auxiliary drive belt, and the generator itself is mounted on a rigid base.

Loosen the lower generator mounting bolts and the tension bar bolt nut.

Install the KM 612 device on the generator and insert a torque wrench into the head of the device.

Install the KM 612 device on the generator and insert a torque wrench into the head of the device.

Using a wrench, tighten the belt to a torque of 5.5 kgf·m for a new belt or 5.0 kgf·m for a used belt.

Maintaining the obtained belt tension according to the scale of the device, tighten the nut of the generator mounting bolt to the tension bar.

Tighten the two lower alternator mounting bolts. Once the belt tension has been adjusted in this manner, no further tension checking is required.
