From March 1987 on vehicles with engine «16SV» with power steering, the generator is driven by a multi-ribbed accessory drive belt, and the generator itself is mounted on a rigid base.
Loosen the lower alternator mounting bolts and the tensioner bolt nut.
Install the KM 612 tool on the generator and insert a torque wrench into the head of the tool.
Using a wrench, tighten the belt with a torque of 5.5 kgf·m for a new belt or a torque of 5.0 kgf·m for a used belt.
Keeping the received tension of a belt on a scale of adaptation, to tighten a nut of a bolt of fastening of the generator to a tension level.
Tighten the two lower alternator mounting bolts. Once the belt tension has been adjusted in this manner, no additional tension check is required.
