Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the clamp and gasket, disconnect the cable from the gear lever.
Turn away bolts and remove an arm from a transmission.
Remove the central control panel (see chapter 12).
Loosen the cable clamp bolt and remove the lock nut, then remove the cable and feed it through the bulkhead into the engine compartment, removing the gasket.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Make sure the baffle spacer is installed correctly and before tightening the cable clamp bolt and installing the selector cover, adjust the cable as follows (pic. 7.18. 7.19).
When working in the engine compartment, make sure the lever moves to the appropriate position while an assistant moves the selector lever while seated in the driver's seat. Remember that the position "R" And "N" indicated on the box, but other items are not indicated.
If adjustment is required, move the selector lever to the position "R". Move the lever back and forth without moving its head up to make sure it is locked in position "R".
Working inside the passenger compartment, remove the selector cover from the center console (The lid is secured with latches on both sides), then rotate it so that the cable clamp bolt is exposed.
Use a long wrench to loosen the clamp bolt.
Working in the engine compartment, move the lever to the right (toward the battery bracket) all the way.
Try turning the front wheels and see if it works. What "parking" latches (stops, cams) are engaged and lock the wheels in a certain position.
Let the assistant set the lever to the stop position and hold it there while you tighten the cable clamp bolt to the required torque inside the car.
Check the operation of the gearbox selector again. Then install its cover.
