Disassembly
Remove the screws and the back cover. The screws may be very tight, in which case you may need an impact screwdriver.
By unscrewing the pump cover, the pressure reducing valve parts can be removed.
Remove the front crankshaft oil seal from the pump using a screwdriver.
Inspection
Check the clearance around the gear teeth using a feeler gauge.
Check the clearance between the end surface of the gear teeth and the housing with a ruler and feeler gauge. If any of them are out of tolerance, replace the parts.
Check the plunger and spring of the pressure relief valve and replace them if damaged or worn.
Assembly
Check that the inside surface of the pump body is thoroughly cleaned before assembly.
Remove the old pressure relief valve seal, wipe the parts clean and lubricate them with clean engine oil before installing. Install a new sealing ring.
Lubricate the clean gears with clean engine oil and install them into the pump housing, making sure that the surface with the mark on the outer gear is facing up.
Check that the mating end surfaces of the rear cover and pump body are clean; apply sealant to them (Vauxhall/Opel N 15 03 166 or equivalent) and install the back cover by tightening the bolts.
Install the new front crankshaft oil seal into the oil pump housing using a bushing or tube as shown below; so that the seal is flush with the surface of the housing.
