Check pressure relief valve plunger and spring and replace if damaged or worn.
Assembly
Check that the inside surface of the pump housing is thoroughly cleaned before starting assembly.
Remove the old relief valve seal, wipe down the parts and lubricate them with clean engine oil before installing. Install a new sealing ring.
Lubricate the clean gears with clean engine oil and install them in the pump housing, making sure that the outer gear has the marked surface at the top.
Check that the mating end surfaces of the back cover and the pump housing are clean; apply sealant to them (Vauxhall/Opel N 15 03 166 or equivalent) and install the rear cover by tightening the bolts.
Install the new crankshaft front oil seal into the Kopnyt oil pump using a bushing or tube like this; so that the gland is flush with the surface of the housing.
