Replacing the front brake hose
Comment. The operation is shown on the example of the left front brake hose. The right brake hose is replaced in the same way.
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the left front wheel (see «Wheel - replacement»).
3. We clean the tip of the brake hose from dirt and process the fitting of the brake pipe with a penetrating lubricant.
Warning! When performing the following operation, make sure that when unscrewing the fitting, the tube does not rotate with the fitting. If the tube «sour» in the fitting, replace it.
4. Using a special wrench for nuts for fastening pipelines by 11 mm, we unscrew the brake pipe fitting, remove the spring clip and pull the hose down from the body bracket.
5. To prevent the brake fluid from flowing out of the system, we put on the end of the tube a protective cap of the bleed screw of the working brake cylinder.
6. Using a 11 mm wrench, unscrew the bolt fitting that secures the tip of the brake hose to the caliper.
Comment. The caliper hose connection is sealed with copper rings that cannot be reused.
7. Use pliers to remove the retaining clip and remove the brake hose.
8. Install the brake hose in reverse order.
9. Bleeding the brake system (see «Hydraulic brake drive - pumping») and make sure the connections of the tips of the new brake hose are tight (see «The drive of the service brake system - check»).
Replacing the rear brake hose (between main tube and rear beam tube)
Comment. The operation is shown on the example of replacing the left rear brake hose. The right brake hose is replaced in the same way.
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Remove the wheel (see «Wheel - replacement»).
3. We clean the tips of the brake hose from dirt and treat the fittings of the brake pipes with penetrating grease.
Warning! When performing the following operation, make sure that when unscrewing the fitting, the tube does not rotate with the fitting. If the tube «sour» in the fitting, replace it.
4. Using a special wrench for nuts for fastening pipelines by 10 mm, we unscrew the fitting of the main brake pipe.
5. So that the brake fluid does not flow out of the system, we put on the end of the tube a protective cap for the bleeder of the working brake cylinder.
6. Remove the spring retainer of the brake hose tip and remove the brake hose from the body bracket.
Warning! When performing the following operation, make sure that when unscrewing the fitting, the tube does not rotate with the fitting. If the tube «sour» in the fitting, replace it.
7. In the same way, unscrew the fitting of the brake pipe of the rear brake cylinder, remove the spring retainer of the brake hose tip and remove the brake hose from the rear suspension beam bracket.
8. Install the brake hose in reverse order.
9. Bleeding the brake system (see «Hydraulic brake drive - pumping») and make sure the connections of the tips of the new brake hose are tight (see «The drive of the service brake system - check»).
Replacing the rear brake hose (between rear beam tube and caliper on vehicles with rear disc brakes)
Replacing the hose is carried out in the same way as replacing the front brake hose, except for disconnecting it from the steering knuckle.
