Note: Earlier models may have been fitted with other types of audio systems.
General information
The infotainment system is a single functional unit with an information display and an on-board computer (with appropriate equipment).
Depending on the configuration, various audio systems can be installed on the car, equipped with additional optional equipment and any type of information display, depending on the desire of the consumer. It is also possible to connect an external signal source to the infotainment system, such as a mobile phone, navigation system, etc. The compilers of this manual recommend entrusting the connection and installation of additional equipment to Opel service stations, where you can also get comprehensive information about the functions, settings and rules for using this equipment in conjunction with the infotainment system.
In this manual, the control methods and capabilities of the audio system are discussed using the example of a basic sample of audio systems CD 30/MP3.
The standard equipment of this audio system includes a radio with automatic tuning and recall from the memory of preset frequencies, with the ability to receive radio stations in RDS format, a CD player and an optional MP3 disc player, 6 acoustic speakers, a multifunctional information display (BID).
Note: All types of display can be installed with this audio system (see below).
The infotainment system has an automatic volume control to compensate for road noise and a digital equalizer with five preset tone controls to optimize the sound. With the appropriate configuration, the system has the ability to connect external devices (e.g. mobile phone), remote control using the buttons built into the steering wheel and the ability to connect the Twin Audio system for rear passengers. Well-designed controls and a large, easy-to-use power and volume button make the system easy to operate.
Anti-theft system
The infotainment system is equipped with an electronic anti-theft system. An individual security code has been entered into the electronic device - it is impossible to activate the audio system when installed on another car.
Attention! If it is necessary to disconnect the battery, before starting work, make sure that you have the correct combination to put the equipment into operation after connecting the battery. The security code must be listed in the owner's manual for the infotainment system - it must be kept outside the vehicle. In case of loss of the combination, seek help from the specialists of the Opel branded service station.
Note: On models produced since 2005, the security code is recognized by the electronic system without the intervention of the owner and its input when connecting the battery is not required.
Information display
Depending on the configuration, a display of one of three versions is mounted in the instrument panel:
Three function information display
When the ignition is switched on, the display shows the current time, outside temperature and date. When the audio system is activated, instead of the date, the current playback mode of the audio system is displayed in the display field (see illustration 19.1).
19.1 Field view of the three-function information display (TID) when the audio system is activated
Multifunctional information display (BID)
When the ignition is switched on, the display shows the current time, outside temperature, day of the week and date. In addition, when the on-board computer mode is activated, instead of displaying the day of the week and date, the name of the control parameter and its numerical values \u200b\u200bare displayed. When the audio system is activated, instead of the day of the week / name of the control parameter, the current playback mode of the audio system is displayed in the display field (see illustration 19.2), bottom line (current date / digital values of the control parameter) remains on the screen.
19.2 Field view of the multi-information display (BID) when the audio system is activated
Graphic information display (GID)
19.3 Main menu of audio display mode
When you select the audio system indication mode, the main menu of this mode will appear in the display field (see illustration 19.3). In the lower part of the display, the readings of the outdoor temperature, the current mode of operation of the ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems, and the current time are displayed. When the audio system is activated, information about the source of the audio signal appears in the information display field:
- Radio operating frequency range/CD player mode;
- Name or operating frequency of the received radio station / number or name of the CD entry;
- Depending on the current settings of the audio system, the corresponding indicators light up in the display field (see below).
The information display allows you to monitor the current audio system settings and adjust the system settings.
General Infotainment Controls
The location of the controls on the infotainment system panel is shown in illustration 19.4, to which all references in the text refer.
