Maintenance work
To check the belt, turn the engine over several times.
This is the only way you can really see all the surfaces of the poly V-belt. Often the belt has only one, but deep crack, which when checked can lie exactly on the belt pulley.
Replace a torn or frayed belt immediately.
Left: all Vectra models are equipped with a torque stop. This design helps to better dampen the reactions of shocks and tensions from the engine. The photo shows the stop of the 8-valve 1.6 liter engine.
On the right: remove the poly V-belt. The photo shows the tension roller fixed. Here, a suitable drill is pushed into the holes of the tension roller and its flange.
Tip: You will find a description of the installation and removal of the poly V-belt in the section "Dismantling the generator" in this chapter.
