Replacement of a defective steering gear collar is possible without dismantling the steering gear. To do this, it is enough to dismantle the head of the tie rod. After loosening the mounting clamps, you can remove the defective cuff from the steering gear and replace it.
Head (2) the tie rod can be easily removed from the steering arm (1) cam puller (3).
The photo shows the tie rod (3), locknut (2) heads (4) tie rod and steering knuckle (1), into which the conical articulated pin of the tie rod head is screwed.
Removing the Servo Pump
If, due to installation work in the engine compartment, the pump must be dismantled, the discharge and return pipes remain connected so that dirt does not get into the hydraulics. Extreme care is required. Even the smallest particles of dirt in the hydraulic fluid can cause functional problems.
Remove the air pump housing, see the air filter chapter.
Loosen the poly V-belt and remove it, see alternator chapter.
If necessary, disconnect the delivery and return hoses from the pump. Be careful, hydraulic fluid is leaking! Close the holes.
Remove both rear and front pump mounting bolts.
Remove the servo pump from the mounting bracket and remove it from the engine compartment upwards.
When mounting, screw the pump to the mounting bracket by 20 Nm
Screw the pressure and return pipes 28 Nm.
Apply poly V-belt.
Mount the air filter housing.
Fill the system and remove air from it.
