Removal
1. Remove the clutch cable as described in steps 1 and 2 Chapters 2.
2. Working inside the passenger compartment, remove the lower trim panel from the driver's footwell.
3. Remove the locking bracket from the right end of the pivot shaft, then unscrew the pedal mounting nut and remove the washers (see illustration).
4. Push the axle out of the pedal bracket (towards the passenger seat), then lower the pedal and return spring down. Remember the location of all washers and/or spacers on the pivot shaft, and to return them to their original position when installing.
5. Disconnect the end of the cable from the pedal, releasing the return spring, and remove the pedal and return spring from the vehicle (see illustrations).
Installation
6. Install in reverse order. Before installing the pivot shaft, lubricate its surface with a small amount of molybdenum grease.
7. Finally, adjust the clutch cable (if necessary) as described in Chapter 3.
