Every 15,000 km or 12 months.
Raise the vehicle and secure it on the stands. Turn the steering wheel to the maximum angle, then turn the wheel slowly. Inspect the condition of the outer protective cover by squeezing it to reveal the folds (see illustration). Check for cracks, crevices, or deterioration of the rubber that could lead to loss of lubricant. Also check the reliability and condition of the mounting brackets. Repeat these checks on the inner protective covers. If any damage is found, the protective covers must be replaced as described in Section 8.
At the same time, check the general condition of the joints by directly holding the drive shaft and turning the wheel. Repeat this test while holding the inner joint and rotating the drive shaft. Any noticeable movement indicates wear in the pivots, drive shaft slots, or drive shaft lock nut.
