Rear suspension. Design and general information (Opel Vectra A)

Opel Vectra cars have a spring rear suspension. The elastic elements of the suspension are the so-called monoblock coil springs. The rear suspension is attached to the body via longitudinal arms and shock absorbers.

The suspension is based on a V-shaped beam. Depending on the engine power and gearbox model, an additional stabilizer may be installed. The longitudinal levers are welded to the V-shaped beam, which is open downwards. Even without a stabilizer, this design reduces the roll of the car on turns.

The all-wheel drive Opel Vectra/Calibra vehicles are equipped with inclined levers and independent rear wheel suspension. The elastic elements of the suspension are barrel-shaped coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers. The stabilizer reduces the roll of the vehicle on turns and ensures good contact of the rear wheels with the road. In the middle of the rear axle of such vehicles is the rear axle reducer. It is fixed on the cross beam and is connected to the bottom via rubber buffers. This unit suppresses the rear axle reducer's own vibrations.

Attention! Welding and straightening work on the rear suspension is not permitted!
