Seat Belts — Care and Maintenance (Opel Ascona C)

1. Periodically inspect the condition of the seat belts for damage. If signs of wear are obvious, replace the belt.

2. The belt should be cleaned with a damp cloth and a small amount of detergent, and nothing more.

3. Never change the original belt fastening, and if belts are replaced, always follow the installation sequence very carefully. If the washers or spacers are not installed correctly, the belt will not perform as intended (see photo 41.3).

4. On two-door models, the belt receiving mechanism is hidden behind the rear trim panel. To access this mechanism, remove the panel.

5. This is done in the following way: first remove the seat, then release the panel clamps from their holes, remove the panel by hand, as described in Section 12.
