1. Make sure the engine oil and coolant levels are correct, that everything is connected and that there are no tools or rags in the engine compartment.
2. Check that the ignition is off. Then deactivate the ignition system by disconnecting the wiring connector from the ignition module (see related section), and the fuel system by removing the fuel priming pump relay from the relay box in the engine compartment (see related section).
3. Turn the engine over with the starter until the oil pressure warning lamp goes out. Check that the ignition is off, then replace the relay and connect the wiring connector.
4. Start the engine in the usual way, but be aware that this may take a little longer than usual.
5. Allowing the engine to idle, check for fuel, water and oil leaks. Don't worry if you smell and smoke from some parts.
6. If everything is in order, leave the engine idling until you feel the flow of hot water through the top hose, then turn off the engine.
7. Allow engine to cool, then recheck oil and coolant levels (see related section), and bring them up to standard.
8. If new pistons, rings or crankshaft bearings have been installed, the engine needs a break-in. During the first 800 km, do not turn on full throttle and do not overload it at low speeds. After running in, it is recommended to change the oil and filter.
