Refueling volumes and used operating materials
Fuel consumption, CO emissions
Since 1996, the regulation 80/ 1268/ EWG with the latest amendment 1999/ 100/ EC has been in force for determining fuel consumption.
The instruction takes into account real traffic conditions: driving in the city is estimated at a coefficient of approximately 1/3, and driving outside the city is estimated at a coefficient of approximately 2/3 (fuel consumption in the city and outside the city). This takes into account cold starts and acceleration phases.
In addition, an indication of CO2 emissions is an integral part of the instruction.
From the given data it is impossible to draw a conclusion about how much fuel each particular car consumes.
When determining fuel consumption according to the 1999/100/EC standard, the dead weight of the vehicle, which is also set according to this standard, is taken into account. Additional special equipment of the car can slightly increase the mass and, with it, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Type, properties and volumes of working fluids
The use of leaded gasoline and the misuse of fuel additives can result in catalytic converter failure, emissions failure and engine damage. On diesel models, never use additives for winter operation, which increase the fluidity of the fuel. If these requirements are not met in the event of an engine failure, the manufacturer's warranty obligations for this vehicle do not apply.
Recommended fuel
Gasoline engines
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95 (research method).
Diesel engine
Use diesel fuel with a cetane rating of at least 50.
Operate the vehicle with summer or winter grade diesel fuel, depending on the ambient temperature.
- At temperatures above -7°C - summer grade fuel
- At temperatures below -7°С - winter grade of fuel
Attention! It is forbidden to fill the vehicle with liquid fuel intended for domestic heating boilers, gasoline and any flammable liquids other than diesel fuel. If the wrong fuel is used, the engine will be seriously damaged.
Attention! Do not refuel with summer grade diesel fuel if the ambient temperature is below -7°C. When cooled in summer fuel, paraffin crystals intensively precipitate, which clog the fuel filter. In this case, the engine may stop or run intermittently.
With no unleaded fuel grade «super» 91 octane fuel can be used, avoiding high engine loads and full vehicle loads, as well as driving in the mountains with a trailer or with a high load - this reduces engine power and torque. Knock regulator depending on the type of fuel filled (its octane number) automatically adjusts the ignition system.
Note. Engines adjusted at the factory to run on AI-95 octane gasoline can also be operated on AI-98 gasoline without restrictions, however, this will not lead to an increase in economy or improve the performance of the vehicle.
Recommendations for choosing engine oil viscosity (gasoline engines)
It is recommended to use engine oil with a viscosity of 5W-30, in the absence of such an oil, follow the diagram given, taking into account the prevailing ambient temperatures.
Air conditioning refrigerant
Charge your vehicle's air conditioning system with HFC-134a refrigerant (R-134a) or similar operating material, fully equivalent to the specified in its properties. Using a different refrigerant will cause serious damage to the air conditioning system and will require a complete replacement of the system.
It is not recommended to release the refrigerant into the atmosphere. Refrigerant HFC-134a (R-134a), used in cars, does not have a harmful effect on the ozone layer of the atmosphere. However, the release of refrigerant into the atmosphere may contribute to global warming to a small extent.
Coolant type
Only red must be used (dark orange), Silicate-free antifreeze recommended by Opel with number 19 40 650/09 194 431 on the label. With prolonged use, the color of antifreeze may turn yellow. This does not affect the properties of the coolant, so it can be used until the next scheduled maintenance.
Attention! It is forbidden to use green-blue antifreezes / antifreezes containing silicate in the cooling system. Adding any additives to antifreeze is not recommended (including for sealing the system and eliminating small leaks).
Gas tank cap
When replacing the fuel filler cap, only the original Opel-issued cap for this model should be installed, as it is the only one that provides full functionality. On vehicles with diesel engines, a special fuel tank cap is installed.
