Car keys (Opel Corsa C)

The key is a component of the electronic engine start interlock system. Spare keys ordered from Opel guarantee trouble-free operation of the electronic engine start interlock.

Note: The spare key must be kept in a safe place.

Locking and unlocking from inside the car

Press or pull the latch. It is not possible to press the driver's door open latch to prevent it from locking.

Child lock

Always use the child lock when there are children in the rear seats. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or danger to life. Please inform your passengers accordingly.

Turn the rotary lock on the rear door from the vertical position with the key: now it is impossible to open the door from the inside.

Electronic engine start interlock

The blocking system checks whether the engine start is permitted by the key used. The engine can only be started if the key is recognized by the system as "permitted". The check is carried out using a transponder built into the key.



The electronic engine start immobilizer is activated automatically after the key is removed from the ignition switch.

Engine start lock indicator

After turning on the ignition, the indicator lights up briefly.

If the indicator flashes when the ignition is on, the system is faulty and the engine cannot be started. In this case, turn the ignition off and on again.

If the indicator continues to flash, try starting the engine with the spare key and contact a service station for assistance.

If the indicator lights up after starting the engine, it means that there is a malfunction in the electronic equipment of the engine or automatic transmission.

Note: The engine immobilizer system does not lock the doors, so always lock the vehicle and arm the anti-theft alarm after leaving the vehicle.

Note: The vehicle registration document contains safety-related information about the vehicle and should therefore be kept in a safe place outside the vehicle.

Remote control device

The remote control device is built into the key.

The device controls the central locking device, mechanical anti-theft device and anti-theft alarm device.

The remote control has a range of approximately 3 m. The range may be affected by environmental conditions. To use the device, point the remote control towards the vehicle.



The remote control device should be handled with care, not exposed to moisture and high temperature, and avoid unnecessary use.

Functioning indication is achieved by briefly switching on the emergency light signal.

Possible malfunctions

If the central locking device cannot be controlled using the remote control device, the cause of the malfunction may be as follows:

• the range of the remote control device has been exceeded;
• remote control battery voltage is too low (for battery replacement, see below);
• multiple, consecutive attempts to use the remote control device outside the vehicle's reception range (for example, the distance to the car is too great, which causes the remote control to no longer be recognized) - it is necessary to synchronize the remote control device;
• overload of the central locking device as a result of frequent, repeated impacts, the power supply to the device is briefly interrupted;
• interference of radio waves due to the presence of external high-power radio devices.

To eliminate the malfunction, it is recommended to contact a technical service station.

Replacing the battery of the remote control

If the operating range of the remote control decreases, replace the battery immediately.

To do this, separate the remote control from the key as shown in the figure.

The key head contains a transponder for the engine immobilizer system. Make sure it is not damaged or lost.

Insert a screwdriver and, turning it slightly, open the remote control, see the picture above.



Open the remote control. Remove the battery with a screwdriver. Replace the battery, observing the polarity. Close the remote control and click it. Insert it into the key and click it.

Replace the battery within 3 minutes, otherwise the remote control will need to be re-synchronized.

Synchronizing the remote control device

If the operation is disrupted, the remote control device must be synchronized.

Turn on the ignition, the system will be in synchronization mode for 30 seconds.

Briefly press the buttons on the remote control inserted into the ignition switch,

Synchronisation is confirmed by locking and unlocking the central locking device once.

Central locking system for doors, sliding door, boot and fuel filler flap

To lock, press the key (see picture) remote control devices or press the release on the driver's door with the doors closed.

Locking with a mechanical anti-theft device

All doors must be closed. No later than 10 seconds after locking, press the remote control button again.

The latches of all doors will be locked from the moment of opening.

If the ignition was turned on, the driver's door must be opened and closed so that the vehicle can be locked.

Do not lock if there are people in the car. Unlocking from the inside is not possible.

Unlocking

To unlock, press the key (see picture) remote control devices or pull the latch on the driver's door.

When the mechanical anti-theft device is activated, it is impossible to unlock the doors by pulling the latch.

Note: It is not possible to press the driver's door open release to prevent the door from locking.

Note: If the driver's door is not closed correctly, the central locking device will unlock again immediately after locking.

The doors will automatically lock 30 seconds after being unlocked using the remote control if no door has been opened.

For locking doors from the inside (for example, to prevent strangers from entering the cabin from outside) you should press the latch on the driver's door.

Locked doors are unlocked automatically in the event of an accident, in cases of a certain severity of the accident (to provide assistance from outside) – provided that the ignition is not turned off.

On Combo vehicles: If the sliding door is still open when the vehicle is locked, it will not lock until a few seconds after it is closed.

Closing windows from the outside

On vehicles with electronically controlled windows, the front door windows can be closed from the outside by holding down the button (see picture) on the remote control until the windows close.

Overload

If the action is too frequent or repeated, the power supply to the central locking device will be interrupted for a short time.

The system is protected by a fuse in the fuse box.
