Attention: In order for the top hatch drive to function properly, never place heavy objects on the hatch, before using the top hatch, do not forget to remove snow, ice, water and sand from its surface!
Attention: When using the roof rack, make sure there is enough space to move the top hatch to avoid damage!
The models covered in this manual may be equipped with a manual or electric tilt/slide sunroof.
Manual drive
Manual operation of the sunroof is carried out using a folding handle integrated in the overhead console (see illustration 17.13). Before starting manipulations, it must be removed from the recess and transferred to the working position.
17.13. Top hatch manual handle
Shift
The hatch cover is moved by turning the handle to the left (counterclock-wise). Press the button lock and rotate the handle until it locks - this position is recommended to reduce wind noise. If it is necessary to open the sunroof by a large amount, press the push-button lock again and continue to turn the handle counterclockwise until it locks again.
Closing of the hatch is made by rotation of the handle clockwise. When the latch is activated in the intermediate position, release it and continue to rotate the handle until the hatch is completely closed - in the final position, the handle should lock.
Raising/lowering
To raise the lid, with the top hatch closed, press the button lock and turn the handle to the right (clockwise) until the cover is in the desired position. The lid is lowered by turning the handle counterclockwise. When the sunroof is fully closed, the handle should lock into place.
Electric drive
On models of the corresponding configuration, the electric top hatch operates only when the ignition is on. The top hatch is controlled by push-button switches (see illustration 17.14), built into the overhead console next to the front seat light. Depending on the configuration, the models described in this manual may be equipped with a tilt-and-slide sunroof, or only with the function of raising/lowering the sunroof. The control of the top hatch cover while the car is moving is allowed at a speed of not more than 120 km / h.
17.14. Pushbutton switches for controlling the electric drive of the top hatch (with appropriate equipment)
Shift
On models with a dual-function sunroof, to move the sunroof, just press the button for the electric drive control switch - after the first press of the button, the sunroof will stop in the most comfortable position at which wind noise is minimal. To fully open the sunroof, press the same button again. If necessary, you can stop the sunroof cover in an intermediate position by pressing the button of the same switch while moving the cover.
To close the top hatch, you must press and hold the switch button in this position until the cover is completely closed.
Raise/Release
To raise the sunroof, press and hold the switch button until the sunroof rises to the desired amount.
Attention: On models equipped with a two-function sunroof, before lifting the sunroof cover, you must first make sure that it is completely closed!
To close the sunroof, press and hold the switch button until the sunroof is fully lowered.
Closing the top hatch from the outside
If necessary, the top hatch, equipped with an electric drive, can be closed from the outside with a key (see Section 8).
Top hatch electric drive failures
In case of an overload in the electric drive circuits due to too frequent repeated action on the switch or for other reasons, the circuits are protected by fuses. If the drive does not activate, check the appropriate fuses (see chapter 12).
Emergency closing of the electric sunroof
Attention: Before performing work, make sure that the ignition is turned off! If the electric drive fails, the upper hatch can be closed manually.
On models equipped with a dual function sunroof (with lifting and sliding mechanism), slide back the decorative cover located at the rear of the ceiling panel (see illustration 17.15), use a screwdriver to press the middle spring-loaded part of the drive shaft inward and rotate the drive shaft until the sunroof closes.
17.15. Closing the double-function sunroof in emergency mode
On Hatchback models equipped with a sunroof, use a screwdriver to remove the front seat lamp cover (see chapter 12), and then wring out the latches and remove the lamp assembly from the seat. Remove the 2 fixing screws, slide the sunroof drive cover back and remove it (see illustration 17.16). Insert the special key into the opening of the motor (see illustration 17.17) and turn it until the sunroof is completely closed.
Note: The special key must be stored in the main glove box.
On Combo models equipped with a sunroof, depress the front latch of the electric drive trim cover and remove it from the overhead console (see illustration 17.18), then unscrew the coupling screw with a screwdriver. Using the emergency key, which is stored on the back of the drive cover, pull the coupler out of the housing (see illustration 17.19). Insert the emergency key with the hex end into the hole in the coupling (see illustration 17.20) and, turning it in the appropriate direction, close the top hatch cover. At the first opportunity, contact a service station to check the sunroof drive and troubleshoot.
Sunblind
In both the closed and open positions, the top sunroof can be covered with a sunblind. The curtain is moved manually. When sliding the top sunroof, the sunblind is removed automatically - after closing the sunroof, it can only be returned to its original position manually.
