The electronic anti-theft device is activated when the vehicle is locked with the key or remote switch.

The device prevents the engine from starting unless the system is deactivated by a remote switch that has the appropriate coding.

Since there is no other way to turn off the anti-theft device, you should always carry spare batteries for the infrared transmitter. The batteries should be changed once a year.

If the engine cannot be started because the anti-theft device is not deactivated by the infrared transmitter, open the single lock with the key. After 30 minutes, the control unit will supply power to the electric motor.

Models from 09.1994

On some models from 09/1994 and on all models from 01/1995, an electronic anti-theft device with transponder control is installed. The device is activated when the key is removed from the ignition switch. The device prevents the engine from starting unless the system is deactivated with an ignition key with the appropriate coding. The remote control is used only to activate a single lock.

When the ignition is turned on, the transmitter (transponder), located in the head of the key, communicates the identification code to the control unit of the anti-theft device. The control unit is located next to the ignition switch. The transmitter in the head of the key does not require a battery, since the electricity comes directly from the control unit. The sign of transponder control is a dot "•" (on early models - the letter "B") on the ignition switch cover.



If the engine cranks but does not start and the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) is flashing on the instrument cluster, the system is activated and the receiver in the ignition switch has not recognized the key code. This may be due to a problem reading the code due to an additional key in the key chain, or damage to the key code.

Anti-theft alarm system

The anti-theft alarm system monitors all doors and the interior for unauthorized entry into the vehicle. Additionally, the system monitors the removal of the radio receiver and the engine start.

The doors and trunk lid are controlled by the single lock control unit and the corresponding door contacts.
