Removal and installation the instrument cluster (Opel Corsa B)

On models from 09.1996, an electronic speedometer with a speed sensor is installed. The speedometer shaft is missing on these models.


1. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the steering column covers. To loosen the screws (2) on the front side, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees. The instrument cluster can be removed without removing the steering wheel.

2. Remove the rubber boot from the ignition switch.

3. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the instrument cluster protective panel (refer to the accompanying illustration).

4. Disconnect the speedometer shaft from the manual transmission. Remove the rubber seal of the speedometer shaft from the engine compartment bulkhead.

5. Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws (arrow down). Carefully pry the retaining clips away with a small screwdriver (arrow up) and remove the instrument cluster from the instrument panel. Make sure that the speedometer shaft remains movable. If necessary, ask an assistant to push the shaft into the passenger compartment.

6. On models before 08.1996 release disconnect the speedometer shaft from the rear of the instrument cluster. To do this, press the spring lock with your finger and separate the shaft from the speedometer.

7. Disconnect the electrical wiring connector.

8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
