Note: The procedure for removing the fuel filter to replace the filter element is described in Chapter 1, Section 8.
1. The fuel filter of the diesel engine fuel system is attached to the rear bulkhead of the engine compartment using a special clamp. In some cases, after removing the filter, it may be necessary to dismantle the clamp.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Chapter 5).
3. Remove the fairing grille (see Chapter 11), and on Zafira models - the rear bulkhead cover of the engine compartment (see Chapter 11).
4. Disconnect the connector (see accompanying illustration) electrical wiring from the fuel filter, separate the fuel lines and the brake booster vacuum hose from the mounting clamp.
5. Carefully remove the fuel filter upwards from the mounting clamp and set it aside.
Note: There is no need to disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter.
6. Loosen the mounting nuts (see accompanying illustration), remove the locking bracket and remove the clamp.
