Removal and installation the hood latch release cable (Opel Astra H)

1. Open the hood, unscrew the mounting screw and remove the cable holder (see accompanying illustration), then disconnect the drive cable from the hood latch.



2. Remove the fairing grille (see Section 4).

3. Remove the rubber bushing through which the drive cable is threaded from the rear panel of the engine compartment.

4. Remove the left lower decorative cover of the instrument panel (see Section 34).

5. Pull the hood latch release lever handle on the left under the instrument panel and release the cable from the holder, then pull the cable into the passenger compartment and disconnect it from the lever.

6. When installing the cable, pass it through the hole in the rear panel of the engine compartment, carefully without bending the cable, route it to the hood lock, connect and adjust - the tip should be installed in the attachment point without play.

7. Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Before closing the hood, check the operation of the cable.

8. On these models, in addition to the above procedures, it will be necessary to remove the cover from the left side of the fairing grille (see Section 4), and to remove the drive lever, remove the inner lining of the front left door threshold.
