Attention! Any work on maintenance or repair of the cooling system should be carried out on a cold engine!
1. This Section describes in detail the operation of removing the cooling system fan only for Z16XE / Z18XE engines without air conditioning, for the rest, only additional operations and features are given.
Engine Z16XE/Z18XE (without air conditioning)
2. Disconnect the battery (see chapter 5) and engine cover (see chapter 2).
3. Remove the front battery cover and disconnect the radiator hose.
4. Disconnect the connector (see resist. illustration) Wiring for cooling fan control module.
6.4 Connector (1) radiator fan control module wiring
5. Raise the car on the lift and release the lower edge of the front bumper lining from the four clips (see chapter 11).
6. Having unscrewed 2 fixing bolts (see resist. illustration), carefully remove the blower housing with the electric motor upwards from the engine compartment. Remove the 3 screws securing the fan assembly to the case and remove the fan.
6.6 Bolts (indicated by arrows) fastening the fan housing to the radiator of the cooling system (engines Z16XE/Z18XE): 1. Fan housing; 2. Bolts for fastening the fan to the case
7. Remove the retaining clip (see resist. illustration) and remove the fan motor.
6.7 Locking bracket (3) fan electric motor
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Features of Z22SE/ Z22YH engines
9. Before removing the fan housing, you must first remove the battery from the pallet (see chapter 5), then unscrew the fixing bolt and remove the intake air path resonator mounted on top of the radiator.
Features of the Z20NET engine
10. Before removing the fan housing, you must first remove the battery from the pallet (see chapter 5), as well as the intake air duct.
Features of the Z19DT engine (H)
Note: Models equipped with a 1.9L diesel engine have 2 fans installed in the case.
11. To remove the fan, first remove the radiator (see Section 7) and disconnect the engine cooling fan control module from the chassis.
Features of Y20DTH/Y22DTR engines
12. Remove the heatsink assembly along with the fan (see Section 7).
6.13 Bolts (2) case fastenings (1) fan to the radiator of the cooling system (motors Y20DTH/ Y22DTR)
13. Having unscrewed 2 bolts (see resist. illustration), remove the fan housing from the heatsink disconnect the connector (-s) wiring, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove one or both fan motors.
