Maintenance work
The headlight will not adjust itself. But if the reflector or even the entire headlight has been replaced, then you need to check the installation of the headlight beam. In some cases, even replacing the incandescent bulb can knock down the headlight adjustment. Of course, adjustment is also absolutely necessary if the front of the vehicle has been hit in an accident or after the installation of new damping parts. Installation in our Vectra with beam adjustment is done in the switch position «ABOUT»:
If one of the headlights has been damaged or replaced, it is enough to park the car at some distance in front of a light wall, turn on the light and then compare the height of the light beam of the mounted headlight with the beam of the headlight that has not been changed.
If the headlights have been adjusted with a tool in the workshop, you can mark the height of the light points, for example, on the garage wall. Important, of course, is the distance at which the Vectra stands from the wall. Also note. With the help of these markings, you can, when necessary, independently check the adjustment of the headlights.
The most accurate way to adjust the headlights, as before, is to align them with an adjusting device, which is available at petrol stations, Bosch services and workshops.
The high beam is adjusted automatically if the low beam is set correctly.
Fog lamp beam adjustment:
At a distance of 5 m from the installation wall, the widely scattered beams must be 100 mm below the center of each headlamp.
Where are the adjustment screws located?
When the hood is open, the side and height adjustment bolts for the main headlights are accessible from above.
To turn the bolts you need an Allen wrench.
Carry out height adjustment first, then side adjustment. Then check the height setting again.
The factory fitted fog lights are height adjustable only.
The adjusting bolt located in the middle behind the fog lamp can be turned by hand.
