Constant control
On vehicles with a monitoring system, the brake lights, dipped beam and tail lights are checked automatically. She constantly controls most of the lights. Despite this, you need to make sure from time to time whether all external lighting equipment is really in order:
Switch on the ignition, switch on one by one and check the function:
Parking lights, dipped beam, if any, then fog lights, high beam and additional high beam headlights.
Front direction indicators on the right and left, as well as side direction indicators and alarms.
Rear lights, lamp (to her) license plate and fog lights.
Rear direction indicators on the right and left, rear alarm lights, reversing lights.
To check the brake lights, have an assistant depress the brake pedal.
Tip: Attentive drivers check the lighting system on almost every night trip. A failed incandescent headlight bulb is recognized by a narrow «light finger» in front of the car.
In a column, the bumper or varnished surface of the front car often reflects headlights and direction indicators. In front of a light-colored wall or in a garage, you can also check while sitting to see if two points of light are visible and if there is an orange glare when the direction indicators flash. To check the rear lights, watch them reflected in another car or again on a white wall.
