Additionally, a low brake fluid level is indicated: the fluid level is controlled by a float located in the expansion tank with a connected contact. If the level drops as a result of a leak in the brake system, contact is made with the ground wire and the control lamp lights up.
Troubleshooting
The lamp does not light up when the handbrake is applied: remove the incandescent lamp and check.
If this fails, remove the handbrake cover and expose the switch, see chapter «Salon».
Disconnect the wire connector on the switch and attach the connector to bare metal.
If the light is now on, the switch is faulty.
The lamp does not go out when the handbrake is disengaged: disconnect the wire on the handbrake as described above, but hang the connector in the air.
If the light is no longer on, then the switch was faulty.
On the contrary, if it continues to burn, then the wire has frayed and closed to ground.
The light is on when the handbrake is off and the engine is running: check the brake fluid level in the expansion tank.
If the expansion tank is full, disconnect the wire connector on the tank cap.
If the light now goes out, then the fluid level switch is faulty.
Perhaps the float is also broken.
If the control lamp continues to burn, then the defect is in the device or in the power supply wire, or in the contact switch of the hand brake lever, or in its wire.
