The handbrake switch is screwed to its lever. To remove or check the handbrake switch, the middle console must be removed.
For purely functional control, the light comes on for a few seconds after the ignition is turned on. If the light remains dark, the incandescent bulb is faulty (for replacement see above in the chapter) or there is a malfunction in the vehicle system. There is also a defect if the control lamp is constantly on while driving.
Of course, the indicator light also lights up when the vehicle is switched off manually as a reminder - and not longer than the engine restart. Therefore, when reporting a defect, first switch off the engine and restart it. If the light still lights up, a workshop should help.
