Removal



1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the front wheels and engine splash shield.

2. Drain the engine oil from the gearbox.

3. Remove the battery, battery support and starter.

4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the reverse light switch and release the switch wiring from the mounting brackets.

5. Using a clamp, pinch the hose connecting the reservoir to the clutch master cylinder.

6. Loosen the clamp securing the clutch hydraulic hose to the gearbox housing (indicated by the arrow in the photo on the left). Disconnect the clutch hydraulic hose from the top of the transmission case (photo on the right).

8. Remove the lower front suspension frame while supporting the engine.

9. Remove the inner drive shaft joints from the gearbox and hang them from the car body using soft wire. Unscrew the bolts (indicated by arrows) and separate the left support of the power unit from the front part of the gearbox housing.

10. On engines with a stamped steel sump, unscrew the flywheel guard mounting bolts and remove the flywheel guard.

11. Place a jack under the gearbox and raise it so that the weight of the gearbox is supported by the jack. Unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox housing to the engine.

12. Move the jack together with the gearbox to the right, remove the gearbox from the guide pins, lower it down and remove it from under the car.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following points:
  • check that the guide pins are in place;
  • tighten all bolts to the specified torque;
  • replace the drive shaft sealing rings;
  • install the lower frame of the front suspension;
  • fill the gearbox with oil;
  • adjust the gear shift mechanism.
