Examination
The reversing light is switched on by a plunger-type switch screwed into the top of the gearbox housing. If the reversing light does not switch on, first check the integrity of the fuse.
To check the switch, remove the electrical connector from it and, using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the switch contacts with the reverse gear engaged. The resistance should be 0. Otherwise, the switch must be replaced.
Removal
1. To improve access to the switch, remove the battery and battery tray.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the switch (indicated by the arrow) from the gearbox housing.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
