Starter lock and reverse light switch
The starter inhibitor and reversing light switch turns on the reversing lights when the gear selector is in the appropriate position and prevents the engine from starting when any gear is engaged.
Removing
1. Set the selector lever to position N.
2. To access the switch, remove the battery and battery support.
3. Remove the selector cable from the gear selector on the gearbox. Unscrew the nut and remove the lever from the gear selector shaft.
4. Disconnect the switch electrical connector located on the wires.
5. On the 1.8 and 2.0 liter engine, remove the dipstick to measure the oil level in the gearbox, unscrew the nut and remove the dipstick tube.
6. Remove the nut from the gear selection shaft.
7. Unscrew the bolt securing the switch plate and remove the switch from the engine compartment.
8. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. In this case, it is necessary to adjust the switch.
Adjustment
Warning! Before adjusting the switch, check that the selector cable is properly adjusted.
1. Set the selector lever to position N.
2. To access the switch, remove the battery and battery support.
3. Remove the selector cable from the gear selector on the gearbox. Unscrew the nut and remove the lever from the gear selector shaft.
4. On the gearbox in neutral position, the washers on the gear selector shaft must be parallel to the markings on the switch body (see fig. Starter lock and reversing light switch). If adjustment is necessary, loosen the switch body mounting bolts and turn the switch to the desired position.
5. Install the gear selector and secure with the nut. Connect selector cable to lever and secure with clip.
6. Install the battery and check the operation of the switch.
