Ignition switch — removal and installation (Opel Vectra A)

Removal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Turn the steering wheel to access the two front steering column cover mounting screws, which are covered with plastic caps. Pry the covers off and remove the screws.

3. Remove the three mounting screws from the back of the lower steering column cover, then remove the upper and lower covers.

4. To remove the lock, insert the ignition key and turn it to position "II".

5. Insert a thin rod into the hole of the lock casing, then press the rod to release the lock spring and pull out the lock using the key.

6. The ignition switch is secured to the steering column lock housing with two screws. Disconnect the wire contact and unscrew the screws to remove the switch (see illustration). Removing the steering wheel will make removal easier. See. Section 10 or Chapter 57, depending on the model.

Installation

7. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
