Warning: Please see warnings at the beginning before proceeding Chapters 55.
Note: On models with power steering, it may be beneficial to jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on axle stands so that the steering wheel can turn freely.
Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Wait at least 1 minute.
2. With the steering wheel in the straight ahead position, turn it 90° clockwise.
3. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the first bolt securing the air cushion at the rear of the steering wheel (see illustration).

4. Turn the steering wheel 180° counterclockwise.
5. Unscrew the second mounting bolt at the rear of the steering wheel.
6. Return the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position, then carefully lift the air bag unit.
7. Disconnect the electrical wiring and remove the air bag from the vehicle.
Warning: The air spring must not be heated above 100°C. Store the removed air spring with the label facing down to prevent possible inflation.
Installation
8. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
