Removing
1. Remove the appropriate suspension strut/steering knuckle assembly as described in Chapter 4.
2. Unscrew the mounting screw and remove the brake disc from the hub.
3. Support the steering knuckle with two metal rods, installing them as shown (see illustration), then use a metal rod or tube of suitable diameter to force or knock out the hub from the wheel bearing. Alternatively, screw two wheel bolts into the hub and, with progressively thicker shims, tighten the bolts to force the hub off the bearing. Note that one half of the inner bearing track will remain on the hub.
4. Use a puller to remove half of the bearing track from the hub. Alternatively, support the track with thin metal rods and push or knock the hub out of it (see illustration).
5. Unscrew the three mounting screws and remove the brake disc shield from the steering knuckle (see illustration).
6. Remove the inner and outer circlips of the bearing (see illustration).
7. Remove the bearing from the steering knuckle with a puller while pressing on the outer track. Alternatively, prop up the steering knuckle and push or knock out the bearing.
Installation
8. Before installing a new bearing, carefully clean the place of its installation on the steering knuckle. Install the outer circlip of the bearing (see illustration). Please note that the tabs of the retaining ring must be bent towards the base of the steering knuckle.
9. Install the new bearing in place by pressing on its outer track so that the bearing rests against the outer retaining ring (see illustration).
10. Install the bearing inner circlip with the tabs facing the knuckle base.
11. Install the brake disc shield.
12. Install the hub in the bearing. While doing this, support the inner race of the bearing with a socket, a long bolt, a washer and a suitable rod as shown in the illustration.
13. Install the brake disc.
14. Install the suspension strut/steering knuckle assembly as described in Chapter 4.
