Checking and adjusting idle speed (Opel Vectra A)

To regulate the idle speed, a tachometer specially designed for diesel engines is used, which operates on photocells. For example, the Zikomat tachometer from Gossen has a photodiode and reacts to light reflected by a white marking strip on the crankshaft pulley.



Apply a 1-2 cm wide mark on the crankshaft pulley with chalk or stick a piece of aluminum foil of the same size.

Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature.

Turn off all electrical consumers.

Check the speed on the tachometer.

1.7L turbocharged TC4EE1 engine

Loosen the lock nut on the high-pressure fuel pump.



Set the speed using the idle speed adjustment screw (see arrow in fig.) within 820-880 rpm (see fig.05409).

Seal the adjustment screw with varnish.
