Fuel filter heating (Opel Vectra A)

When the ambient temperature drops, the viscosity of diesel fuel increases due to the hardening of the paraffin contained in it. Therefore, companies selling petroleum products add special additives to the fuel in winter, which reduce its viscosity and allow the engine to be started at lower temperatures. However, these additives do not always ensure a reliable engine start, so diesel engines installed in Opel Vectra cars are equipped with an electric fuel filter heating device. As a result of heating, the hardening of paraffin in the fuel supplied to the high-pressure fuel pump is excluded even at very low temperatures.

The heating is switched on automatically when the engine is started at an ambient temperature below +6°C.

Attention! Due to the significant current consumption of the fuel filter heating device, it is recommended to switch off all power consumers when starting the engine at low temperatures.
